Peter Bonacci is a Photographer based in Jersey City, New Jersey.

New Jersey-based photographer Peter Bonacci has years of experience shooting culinary works of art. His passion for the food and restaurant scene all started in 2009 when Peter worked as a server during his time in photography school. He continued in the service industry until 2019. Peter still remembers the impact those jobs left on him and his work. His talent stems from the chefs he worked with and their ability to turn any meal into a lasting memory. His focus on bold colors and the use of movement portrays a lively, indulgent picture that’s reminiscent of the atmosphere often felt in an eatery on Saturday night. From steam rising through the air from a plate of hot risotto to the flames and sparks that can be felt from the burnt cinnamon garnish on a strong cocktail, Peter will make you fall in love with just one look. His refined eye for low depths of field and environmental-portraiture bring a sense of style and storytelling to his photos that truly show he’s mastered it all. Since 2018, Peter’s broadened his experience to include product, lifestyle, and event photography as well. Nevertheless, Peter’s ability to transport his audience into the image shines through in every proof.

You can always tell when a person has worked in a restaurant. There’s an empathy that can only be cultivated by those who’ve stood between a hungry mouth and a $28 pork chop, a special understanding of the way a bunch of motley misfits can be a family. Service industry work develops the “soft skills” recruiters talk about on LinkedIn — discipline, promptness, the ability to absorb criticism, and most important, how to read people like a book. The work is thankless and fun and messy, and the world would be a kinder place if more people tried it.
